Kolkata: The first day of Pink test went to India’s way

New Delhi: Could you ever imagined more than 50000 people would come to see a test match in India? Most of us would say no but Kolkata Eden garden proves thousand of people wrong.

On Friday new era of Indian cricket has started yes we are talking about Pink Era. The first pink ball test in India against Bangladesh started with joy and emotions. The whole country was eager to see the Indian team playing with a pink ball. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Many of us were shocked by the Mominul Haque decision.

Indian bowlers did not make the fans wait much longer and Ishant Sharma strikes in 6th over. Soon history of dominance of Indians in India started repeating. Bangladesh batsmen had no clue in front of Indian bowlers. Nine batsmen could not score in double figures. Liton Das looked good but he got hit on the helmet and had to retire hurt. Bangladesh brought Mehidy Hasan as the substitute who only scored 8 runs. For Bangladesh Shadman Islam (29) was the best scorer. They were bundled out in 30.3 over at 106 runs only on the board.

India bowlers were in the full swing. Experienced Ishant Sharma took 5 wickets for the 10th time in an inning after 11 years in India. On the other side, Umesh Yadav got 2 and Shami one. The total was low but Indian batsmen had to bat under the light and that was a challenge. Both the openers started well, especially Mayank Agarwal but he couldn’t convert this into the big one and got out by AL-Amin. Just after the tea, Rohit departed at 21 runs.

In the last season, it was Pujara and Virat show, both of them scored on every side of the ground. Both completed their fifty but again Pujara got out after that. He scored 55 runs. It’s been a long time that fans did not see a hundred from Pujara bat. On the other hand, Virat completed his 5000 runs as a captain. Before the historic pink test match, first-day stumps India gets 68 runs lead. Virat at 59 runs and Ankaya Rahane at 23 runs.
